Adopt a Snowy Owl

Adopt a Snowy Owl – Meet Sweeney Todd!

If you’d like to adopt a Snowy Owl, one of the most iconic species of owl, then Sweeney Todd is the Snowy Owl for you!

Sweeney Todd was born at the Hawk Conservancy Trust in 2008 when the naming theme of the year was ‘Outlaws and Villains’. She is a beautiful owl, and keeps herself in fantastic condition to show off that iconic white and black plumage.

As a bird from colder climates, she wows her fans in the winter months when she features in our winter displays and evening events.  Watching her fly is breath-taking and equally special is the sight of her fluffy little legs as she walks following her favourite member of the bird team, looking a little like she has fluffy boots on. Snowy Owls walk and run faster than most owls!

Sweeney has gathered a reputation amongst the team as a bit of a diva. On quite a few occasions, she has been unwilling to return to her aviary after her segment of the demonstration, preferring to stay in the arena and soak up the limelight. Many of our regular visitors have become accustomed to the ‘Sweeney Todd’ show.

The rest of the year, she can be found in her aviary during the warm summer days dozing in the dappled sun.  She really does have the life of luxury!
