Bird of Prey Experience

Birds of prey are fascinating and majestic animals, and it is an uplifting experience to be in their company and an exciting privilege to fly them. In this three-hour session, we invite you to experience this with our wonderful team of birds. You will be accompanied by a small group of our other guests as well as two members of our team who will feed your fascination for birds of prey.

Your session will include handling and flying a range of bird of prey species, which may include owls, hawks and vultures. There may also be an opportunity to work with young birds in training. During the session there will be an opportunity to demonstrate the handling and flying skills you have learnt during the session, by flying a bird of prey in your own private arena.

Guests must be aged 16 or over (for younger age groups, we offer Young Falconer and Children’s Owl Experiences).

Your Experience

Please head to Reception in the Hawk Conservancy Trust shop at the start of your session, where you will be directed to meet your host. After a brief introduction to your fellow guests and a run through of the itinerary, your experience activities will commence.

These intimate experience sessions are limited to small groups of up to six guests, with two members of our team guiding and informing you through your day. These three-hour experience sessions are available in the morning or afternoon:

Afternoon sessions are half an hour longer as they include a break to watch the 2pm flying display. If you are attending a morning session, you are most welcome to remain at the Trust and enjoy the rest of our daily activities. If you are attending an afternoon session you are welcome to arrive earlier and enjoy the daily morning activities. In either case, you may wish to visit Feathers Restaurant for some lunch before or after your experience (not included). Feathers Restaurant is open daily from 9:30am for breakfast, until the park closes.
