The Hawk Conservancy Trust is located 4 miles west of Andover, and is half a mile from the main A303 road. We have brown tourist board directional signs from the A303, Please do not take the Andover turn off, stay on the A303 until you see the brown signs saying The Hawk Conservancy. Click on the map below for a detailed, Ordnance Survey based UK Streetmap area map. For a detailed route plan, browse to http://www.theaa.com, and in the Route Planner, place your Postcode or address in the From section and The Hawk Conservancy in the To section
Satellite navigation systems typically give you what is perceived to be the quickest route. Often this assumes country lanes are as fast as main roads. This is not true.
If you are using a satellite navigation system to reach the Hawk Conservancy Trust, particularly using the postal code, you must ignore it if it directs you to leave the A303 before Sarson Lane. The Trust is accessed from the A303, and there is no other route that is simpler, faster or shorter. The Trust is well and clearly signposted from the A303 from both directions.
Some users of Satellite navigation systems have reported being sent through local lanes and villages resulting in a much more complex and slower journey than would have been the case, had they used the A303.
Trains run to Andover railway station from London Waterloo, and other mainline stations. Rail enquiries for times and prices is on 08457 484950 or the train line web site
From Andover to the Trust there is a bus service operated by Stagecoach that will take you to the Amport Inn, which is about a half mile from the Tust entrance. The current (valid June 2008) timetable in PDF form is here.
Alternatively there are a number of taxi operators who will be happy to transport you from Andover rail station to the Trust. At June 2008 we would expect the cost for the journey to be in the region of £7, although the volatility of fuel prices may render this out of date. The Yellow Pages lists a number of local operators.
