Birds of prey make brilliant photographic subjects, and the Hawk Conservancy Trust can cater for both the professional and enthusiastic amateur on our photographic days.

Each day consists of three main components. Firstly, the opportunity to enter aviaries of the less nervous birds, to photograph them without the obstruction of wire. Secondly, birds on perches or blocks can be held by the Falconer to provide a suitable portrait picture. Finally, background or setting shots with British raptors being placed in trees or hedgerows in Reg’s Downland Meadow, providing a countryside setting.

There is a wide variety of species available for photography including owls, eagles, falcons and vultures.

There will also be the opportunity to take some shots of flying birds during our 2pm Valley of the Eagles display where eagles, kites and vultures fill the sky.

Each day is limited to a maximum of 10 people (16 years and over), and will start at 10am finishing at 5pm.

You will be looked after by 2 experienced members of staff, who will be on hand to set up shots of a variety of indigenous, and non indigenous species.

Lunch, tea and coffee are included in the cost with lunch being taken on the balcony of our corporate room, where guests will have a bird’s eye view of the Trust’s 11:45am flying display (subject to corporate booking of the Griffon Rooms).
