This day is brought to you by the Hawk Conservancy Trust and the Great Bustard Group to give you the chance to get really close to some very special species of birds.

You will be met at the entrance to the Hawk Conservancy Trust Visitor Centre by your hosts for the day for the start of your session.  After a brief introduction to your fellow guests and a run through of the course itinerary, your experience session will begin.

Your morning will include handling and flying a range of birds of prey species that are to be found at the Trust, and may include: kites, owls, hawks and vultures.

This is not an intensive course to teach guests how to practise falconry or keep birds of prey. This experience is set at the pace of the guests on the day to enable them to hold and fly birds of prey, and to have an intimate insight into the work of the Hawk Conservancy Trust.

After lunch at the Trust you will meet the Great Bustard Group and learn about the history of this magnificent bird, and of the successful reintroduction of the species into the UK.

After enjoying privileged access to the UK’s only Great Bustard aviary at the Trust, we will reconvene on Salisbury Plain (approx 20 minutes drive using your own vehicle) and then, in the Great Bustard Landrover, visit the project release site.

Here you will be able to see Great Bustards in the wild as well as some of the other special wildlife of the Plain including Stone Curlew. Your guide will be able to answer your questions about the wild Great Bustards and their remarkable habitat.

The Raptor and Great Bustard Experience is available two Mondays per month, and is limited to 5 people per experience. Only guests aged 16 years and over are able to attend our experience sessions. For younger guests please visit our children’s experience session section on the main webpage.

The Raptor and Great Bustard Experience is currently priced at £130.00 per person. These experience sessions can be booked for a particular day, or can be given as a Gift Voucher, making an ideal Christmas or birthday gift. Purchase vouchers from our online Ticket Shop.
